A bookmatch table is made with 2 slabs of walnut that not only come from the same tree, they were beside each other on the tree. These slabs typically have a live edge and are 2" thick. By laying these specially selected slabs beside each other you get a table where the two sides are virtually mirror images of each other. This makes for a balanced, symmetrical table that is pleasing to the eye.
